<p>This is the guideline.<br/> With a 64 bit OS, always use the 64 bit installer.<br/> With a 32 bit OS, always use the 32 bit installer. The machine architecture does not matter most probably. It is the OS that determines which installer has to be used.<br/><br/> WSS 2.0 and SPS 2003 only runs in WOW64 mode in 64 bit OS. And the Service Pack 2 has to be installed for this to work.<br/><br/> WSS 3.0 and MOSS 2007 in 32 bit on a 64 bit OS is not supported. Therefore, in 64 bit OS, IIS must be in 64 bit mode for WSS 3.0 and MOSS 2007.</p>
